Animal Control

The Cherokee Village Animal Control opened April 2008. It serves the city of Cherokee Village and Ozark Acres.  The facility is staffed by one full time person and volunteers. News   The volunteers at the CVAC hold frequent adoption events.     Donations We are asking people in the community to donate items for use in the Animal Control Center. Other items that could be used: 1.   Money 2.   Aluminum cans to recycle 3.   Collars, leashes, harnesses & chokers 4.   Food (dog or cat) (canned or dry) 5.   Towels, blankets, small rugs 6.   Crates, cages, pens, and carriers 7.   Bowls for food & water 8.   Plastic storage bins (for food and other supplies) 9.   Plastic trash cans with snap latch lids 10. Cat litter, newspapers 11. Cleaning items, disinfectants/wipes, laundry      soap/bleach 12. Flea/tick dips, shampoos, conditioners 13. Five gallon buckets 14. Garden hoses 15. Kiddie pools 16. Paper towels, toilet tissue We also need VOLUNTEERS TO HELP IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:      Bathe, dip, and groom dogs      Feed and water animals      Train dogs to walk on leash      Play with animals to get them socialized and           rehabilitated Items can be dropped off Monday--Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 pm at the facility. All proceeds go to help the animals and our community. Friendly Reminder: If you live in the city limits of Cherokee Village, your dogs must have rabies tags and city tags on at all times.  This is a city ordinance and it helps Animal Control return dogs to their homes safely. Adopting a friend Our adoption procedure is very simple.  Find the perfect pet that you can give a "forever home". Our staff will help match your personality and needs to the pet that best suits you and your family.  Adoption cost is $10.00 per animal plus cost of  vaccinations, licensing, and veterinarian services including spaying or neutering (City of Cherokee Village will give a $25 voucher toward spaying or neutering). Other Services: If you are put in a position where you can not keep your pet and you live in Cherokee Village or Ozark Acres, for a fee you can surrender your pet to the Animal Control Center.  You must call and make an appointment first.  We do, however, encourage you to find a new owner by placing ads in the local paper, on bulletin boards found at feed stores and shopping centers, etc., as the Animal Control Center is limited on space. If you decide to surrender your pet, a $35 fee is required at time of drop off.  Please do not drop your pet off at the Animal Control Center without an appointment!
